Oscarnominaties bekend gemaakt

The Shape of Water werd onder meer genomineerd in de categorieën beste film, beste regie en beste vrouwelijke hoofdrol (Sally Hawkins). De film gaat in Nederland in première tijdens International Film Festival Rotterdam (24 januari t/m 4 februari).

Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri van Martin McDonagh, onlangs nog de grote winnaar bij de Golden Globes, ontving zeven nominaties. Dunkirk van Christopher Nolan kreeg er acht.

De Nederlandse cameraman Hoyte van Hoytema ontving voor Dunkirk zijn eerste Oscarnominatie. Hij neemt het op tegen onder meer Roger Deakins (voor de 14de keer genomineerd, ditmaal voor Blade Runner 2049) en Rachel Morrison (Mudbound), de eerste vrouw die ooit voor 'Beste Cinematografie' is genomineerd.

Een ander Nederlands tintje was de nominatie voor Arjen Tuiten, die genomineerd werd voor zijn make-up in de film Wonder.

De prijsuitreiking vindt plaats op 4 maart.
